Do you want to know more about the principle behind heating and cooling systems and how they can work for your new house? Read on and you will discover many things about heating and cooling and cooling systems  and how you can have the greatest advantages from using them.

From their names alone, heating and cooling systems are actually a central heating system in the form of a furnace or boiler and usually located in basements or garages of our homes. Heating and cooling systems are placed out-of-the-way because they are usually bulky and can emit lots of heat as it operates.  People are safer away from them. They can deliver heat throughout our homes by pumping in warm air by means of its system of air ducts and can also send steam or hot water via pipes coming from the convectors or radiators. Basically, they operate with the principles of forced-air and gravity systems and they can be operated through thermostat control. Most homes of today use electric baseboard heaters or even in-floor gas heaters that produce radiant heat but now, more people are becoming aware of the centralized heating and cooling systems and more about them will be discussed below.

For homes, there are two common types of heating and cooling systems and these are the centralized ducted air systems and the radiant heating systems. Ducted air systems are the most common kind of heating and cooling systems and are easily recognizable.  In this system, there are also two kinds, the forced-air and gravity types. With the forced-air heating and cooling system, you can have warm air from the furnace and you can also have cool air from the air conditioning unit.  The blower from this system is  responsible for these as it forces the cooled or heated air from the system and into the rooms of our homes or offices.

The gravity furnace type operates by carrying hot air through the system that comes from a furnace which is located on the ground or below the main floor. It does not use blowers but it uses huge air ducts and can only provide warm air unlike the forced-air heating and cooling system which is versatile.

Now, the second type of heating and cooling system is the radiant heating systems.  The system uses water, hot steam or electricity to charge water and produce radiant heat and this is made possible with the use of the central boiler system that heats the water. The steam that is produced circulates through a system of tubes and pipes located underneath the house’s floor surface and when these pipes heat up from the hot water and steam, radiant heat is emitted which warms the room.

Electric radiant systems are also a type of radiant heat. This system works when a home is installed with electric-resistance baseboard or has a system of electric cables and or foils buried under the floors or even above ceilings. When there is the flow of electric current on these elements, heat is also generated and radiated inside the room.
